A failed safety test of the Chernobyl reactor number 4 caused the largest nuclear disaster in history. Today the epicentre of this world-changing event is buried under rubble and protected by the New Safe Confinement, a 100-metre tall steel arch designed to last over 100 years, by this time all deadly radioactive material will have been removed. I captured this image between November 2020 and September 2021, when I installed two more cameras pointed at the power plant. Unfortunately, both were destroyed by the Ukrainian military searching for mines and bombs left by the Russian forces withdrawing to Belarus.
