RICCIO FRAME 'N' PRINT

FRAMING FOR PICTURES, MEMORABILIA & FINE ART LARGE FORMAT PRINTING

Karen Doig

I am a fused glass addict living and working in Bonnyrigg.  I first attended a fused glass workshop in Edinburgh in February 2019, I loved it so much I had bought my own kiln by April of that year and have never regretted it.  My day job is working in HR for an Edinburgh Company, but any opportunity I can find is spent making fused glass creations in my small home studio. This is my ‘me place’ door shut, music on and hours happily creating.

My designs are formed using layers of hand cut glass in all sizes and colours.  Once a piece has been assembled it’s then fired in the kiln to temperatures ranging from 760C to 810C for approx. 12 hours.  Certain pieces may also need a second firing depending on its complexity.

My joy of working with glass is its versatility, uniqueness (no two pieces will ever be identical) and how the light shining through its transparency brings the colours of the glass into the room.
