Hazel McLean

Hazel McLean (BA) currently lives in the Scottish Borders where she creates visual art. She interprets both her internal and the external world through painting, usually in oils. Hazel’s work falls in the Outsider Impressionist genre.

Hazel acquired experience and knowledge through artist modelling for many years whilst running studios and partaking in shows. Exhibition history from 2023: Findra, Innerleithen; Zenwalls Gallery, Peebles: ‘Remembering the Accused’ Traquair House; ‘Drawing Down the Moon’ 44 AD Gallery, Bath.

Participation in group shows: St Ronans Hotel during Innerleithen Music Festival; The Eastgate Theatre, Silver Tree and The Tweeddale Gallery in Peebles; ‘Seasons of the Witch’ collective, exhibiting in Alloa, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Before relocating home in 2017 Hazel was resident artist at Captain Ahab’s Tattoo Parlour, Cambridge and exhibited at Norwich Studio Art Gallery, Norwich Arts centre, Parallax, and First Site Gallery, Colchester.  London shows include: Brick Lane Gallery, Chelsea Summer & Autumn shows, Lollypop and Underground Galleries.

Earlier, she  was resident artist in Pilton & showed frequently in Glastonbury in The Lazy Gecko, the town hall, and participated in the Medieval Festival, Faerie Ball, and Frost Fayre whilst showing in many places in Bath, most notably the Royal Victoria whilst being a member of The Studios, Comfortable Place. Recently she took part in Innerleithen Open Studios after completing work for Keith & Kyra Walker, exhibited at the Neidpath Castle as part of their wedding celebration.  Currently working on commission for a private collector.
